    The idle mixture must be adjusted with an exhaust gas analyzer to make sure genteel emissions. Here are two adjustment screws accurate collectively. The huge one life idle speed, the small one, idle mixture. To get it accurate, turn the idle mixture adjustment screw in (timer-wise) until the engine speed drops. Back out adjustment to obtain the peak idle speed. Turn in 1/8 turn. It must be very accurate.

    The kicker is to not run it too lean. Real terrible for an air-cooled motor.

    1970 must be 1500cc except the motors been altered, 1966 was 1300cc, 1 year only in beetles.
