They for saw the natural energy crisis that is sure to insue because of all of the resorces we are using up. Japan is very technilogical. They have amazing scientist and are the leading country in technology advances but the crazy thing is most of the advacnes are to help the environment. Now why kant the states do that?
In Asia, gas prices have always been high, because it is all imported.
I lived in Japan in the late ’90′s and gas prices were about 110 yen (approx ~$1.20) a liter. (Pretty much what we pay now in the west)… When they removed the price supports the cost was about the same as everyone else and only went up a few cents. Now that prices are higher, in Asia, things are pretty much humming as they always were.
Because many nations are more advanced in their thinking. And that idiot Bush had never been out of the country except for Mexico before he grabbed the chair in the White House.
Well over 60% of Americans have never been outside of the USA. What does that tell you about our knowledge of world affairs?
one of the reasons was the EPA and the Clean Air Act of 1990 that mandated two tiers of emission standards. by 2004 each manufacturer was to have at least 1 0r 2% of their vehicles be ultra low emissions. The Japanese were the only ones smart enough to actually make the program happen. Most American car companies thought the hydrogen car was the way to go(and it still may be) but the incredible expense of the fuel cell technology does not currently make it practical–yet. Honda and Toyota have led the way on hybrids with the Prius being more successful.
Hiya,
Japanese are very smart about conserving. They recycle everthing and have been doing it for years. I see the cars on my trips to Japan all the time. I’m getting my Hybrid soon because I hate oil companies.
