Chevy remains on schedule to yield the Volt by the end of 2010. This car will be able to go 40 miles decently using an gripping engine, with which top it will act like a gas/gripping hybrid. Effectively as long as you don’t travel more than 40 miles in a day, the Volt will be an gripping car.

GM is requiring a 10 year time for the Volt’s lithium-ion battery, and expects to have next-age assemble lithium-ion battery packs ready for the vehicles by October this year.

The Toyota Prius is plainly the greenest car unfilled right now

even if the Honda Civic hybrid is accurate in the rear. While Toyota is effective on a plug-in Prius model, they place of protection’t yet well yet to be to the lithium-ion battery the boards and thus have fallen in the rear Chevy in the plug-in market.

Toyota surpassed American companies in hybrid equipment a decade ago – is GM finally about to reverse this?

Is it too much to pay for a laptop with this specs? its $1,750 but they have $50 a month offer?

With cars like the Chevy Volt, Fisker Karma, Tesla Model S etc. on the horizon do you judge they are destined to fail or do they have a fighting opportunity? Would the cost to keep up them eclipse their benefits? It’s not as even if they may maybe be full to your community mechanic for repairs. I’ve also read that Lithium ion batteries would have to be replaced each 5 being or 100k miles. I would infer that life reasonably pricey to do. I’m really hopeful for cars like these…just apprehensive about maintenance.

Lithium battery cars mining ?

tdmrcomments questioned:

I read recently about a name asking about the mining of lithium batteries and cars. Public posted that they dont use them in cars, but Toyota has had one in production for a small now, even if it uses only a small pack to restart the engine (engine shuts down as a substitution for of idling) and to run all the electrical gears. Here is also a company in California (Tesla Motors) that offers and all gripping car that runs off of lithium. Im really unusual to find out how much production it takes to make lithium batteries too. I own a hybrid now and yes, the warrant on it is 100,000 mile, or 10 year. My car is on it’s 3rd battery and its 4 being ancient with about 120,000 miles on it. Just in view of the fact that it’s right for 10 being does not mean it will last for 10 being. My warranty is up on the car and I do want to get rid of it. I’ve been thought about the new diesels out here vs being paid another hybrid, but with lithium hitting the market here soon I would very wait for them. Anyways, original question, how much mining and what is caught up in making these batteries? I know they are a lot more pricey, but is this cost becuase it takes more mining and clarification to extract the lithuim, or in view of the fact that the real production of the batteries is more complicated, anyone know? Can’t seem to find anything on the net.

I was just wondering how much mining and dispensation is required to make a lithium battery for these new hybrids. I be with you that these cars go owing to these batteries each 2-3 being. At the price these batteries cost I would reflect that the administer and mining to get the lithium is of poorer quality for the background than the few gallons of gas you save over 2 being. Just wondering.
I question a question, not answering one, and lithium batteries dont last that long, they stand only for about a 1000 cycles before deteriorating, the average self driving to work will consume a logic a day.

Wolf Harper questioned:

I keep hearing Answerers say that hybrid batteries are not ecological.

Why do you say that material? Can you back it up with real waterproof?

The small lead-acid batteries now used in cars are already 100% ecological (right here in the USA) . They use acid, which is more spiteful than the alkaline electrolytes used in more bestow batteries. They also use lead, which is a very low-cost metal, and yet a $5 core payment is defensible on these. While these new batteries have nickel, lithium and additional proceeds, and as a upshot they will probably have a core quicker to $300.

Wuteverx1972 questioned:

Ok well I have to do this repudiation speech on ordinary cars and why hybrid cars are better.

My opponent pointed out 3 issues with hybrid cars
a) The production of the batteries used in hybrid cars requires costly and destructive nickel mining.

b) Hybrid cars are more pricey to yield and transport a hybrid car as opposed to a conventional vehicle

c) Here are much better alternatives to a hybrid car that offer remarkable fuel efficiency and sterile emissions.

For my speech I have to try to argue hostile to those points.
I’ve done investigate on hybrid cars but I need some help in view of the fact that I dont reflect my attitude are strong ample.

I was thought that for part a I can say that the use of nickel in batteries of hybrid cars is just a start into making a chat into the background. Lithium will soon be used in hybrid cars which will not harm the background. Also, here are special places where one can take their used nickel battery to by the book dispose of it.

For part b I do not know how to argue hostile to it in view of the fact that my opponents investigate shows that hybrids do weigh more than a conventional vehicle causing more fuel to be used by the trucks that transport them making it pricey for transportation.

for part c, here is no skepticism that here are better alternatives to a hybrid car that offer remarkable fuel efficiency and sterile emissions such as a dirt bike.

I need some marker that shows that in the long run hybrid cars are less pricey by and large such as maintenance, fuel, emissions.
For conventional vehicles here’s a lot to take into consideration such as the substitution of the battery (where the battery of the hybrid are fated to last the life of the car plus warranty for 100,000 miles), fuel emissions, etc.

a name help me and grant me with in rank on how hybrids can be better or will benefit our possibility in the long run

E85 and additional biofuels are carbon neutral, aren’t they? I mean they pull CO2 out of the air to grow the sow, and it goes back when burned. At smallest amount that’s what I thought.

The battery tale is not all that terrible. NiMH and Lithium Ion batteries have vital equipment in them. They won’t just be disposed of, but will be recycled. At smallest amount that’s what I’m conception and hearing.

bjmarchini questioned:

I have worked in a Honda/Pontiac/Cadillac dealership for a number of being. As you may or may not know, Honda was the first US automaker to relief hybrids in the US (2000 Honda Insight). They are advertised as better for the background, but I wonder if they really are?

The batteries in these equipment are probable to last about ten being. They subdue run on gas, but get between 20-30 % better gas mileage (all makes get this – even a Prius).

What do you do with the batteries with they expire? I can’t infer they can be recycled, and I would also infer that they would be very hazardous to the background.

It may not seem like much of an impression as here are only 200,000 hybrids on the US roads, but what happens if 10 being out we are looking at millions of these equipment?

Is a 20-30% savings in gas mileage (at most) value adding all these used lithium ion batteries to the background?
And I am sure a name will say, “you have to exchange a car battery in a car each 3-5 being anyway”, but Hybrids subdue have a fixed battery (which makes a total of two)
