Em Diggity questioned:

I found the following on Wikipedia discussion about being paid a larger battery for a Honda Insight and then life able to run the gripping motor constantly, charitable you highway mileage over 100mpg.

Honda hybrids like the Insight are Analogous Hybrids which at first glance would not seem to benefit much from a plug-in hybrid conversion as they do not have an EV-mode like the Toyota Prius. But by using a better battery the 10 kW (13 hp) IMA may maybe be run in a continuous help mode to succeed gas consumption and push the mileage well into the one-hundreds on the freeway. The Insight is a very set alight and polished vehicle which makes it very striking for conversion.

Does anyone know anything about this? How much would a conversion such as this cost?

I don’t know a lot about car engines and I know less about gripping engines. I’ve heard the Prius type of hybrid will liable be the possibility for all cars. But, I wonder if that tiny 1.3 litre engine has ample guts for a mid-size or generous-size automobile or a intersect XUV to Strike it in order to merge onto the freeway?

I’d like to hear a mechanic’s take on the Prius type of hybrid as to acceleration for the better vehicles, 0 to 60mph, for merging on the freeway. I’d also like to know a mechanic’s attitude whether or not the gasoline engine can take the wear of a lot of long interval highway driving say over five being.

Lastly does the gasoline engine turn a generator or an alternator to make electricity for gripping engine on the handbook teach. The exposure diagram says age assemble, but I judge the gripping engine uses alternating current.
Excellent answers. I questioned in view of the fact that hybrid sales, are only about 5 percent of the total market. But it seems all the majors have announced they are making the changeover. From an fiscal perspective, the engine is a bargain. If the price of gas is a bubble and the bubble bursts then the hybrid is even a BETTER bargain, not a lesser one. You get the savings of the lower gas prices, PLUS added to that the savings from the far better mileage. What you waste on gas each month would seem next to not anything if you horde a V-6 or V-8 before. If the price of gas is not a bubble and the price of gas continues to go up, the hybrid allows you to subdue meet the expense of gas, furthermore, it protects your by and large fiscal proclamation from life decimated by each rising gas prices. Frankly I don’t judge in global warming, but the fiscal compensation of the hybrid are signal. If the engine is as reliable and performs just as excellent as a V-6, you’d be unwise not to buy one, except you like literally burning cash.

When driving a Hybrid the gripping motor is used at low speeds, then the gasoline engine kicks in for more potential. Question is how does the gasoline engine turn on or is it always on?
now that I know how the gasoline engine turns on, it does not seem to have any warm up time, so you may maybe be accelerating hard onto a freeway with cold thick oil. must I be apprehensive about unnecessary wear?

Hi, I sought after to get your attitude on this. The strain new lexus I bought 4 months ago hindered 4 era days gone by while I was driving on the freeway. The “try out hybrid logic” & “maintenance required soon” signals came on & stayed on until I took it to the service dept (at same dealership I bought the lexus at) & left the car here. they gave us a loaner.
well they called now fr service dept & in the end said that the hybrid battery logic has disastrous due to wiring tribulations & they have to do a foremost service where they will chat the entire battery logic & it will take a week to do.
My question: is this something that has happened before to an nearly strain new car? we bought this car 4 months ago & I’m feeling very uneasy about this. Would it be out of the question to question them to exchange our car with a strain new one? What is your in rank on this? I’m feeling a bit mad about it (only in view of the fact that this car is held to be strain new) & I’m note sure if I’m defensible for feeling this way.

Tinkerbell77 questioned:

My husband is being paid a new job. He now facility 10 summary away from home. We do more city than HWY driving now. But, his new job is 45 summary away on the HWY. We need a new vehicle soon. He wants to get a hybrid car (like the Prius) in view of the fact that he feels that even if they are more pricey than let’s say the Honda Fit that he will save cash in gas so it won’t really be that pricey. I’m thought of the monthly car payments plus monthly gas expenditure of the Prius compared to the Fit (or another Hybrid compared to another fixed car). I hear how splendid the hybrid is on reduction you gas on the city driving, but what about the HWY driving?
As the gentleman below confirmed, will the car stay using electricity while on the HWY/freeway or will it only use gas? If it will only use gas then will the hybrid part (or gripping) even make any difference if we do primarily HWY driving? Also I thought of another question…Are repairs inane to be more? In view of the fact that I need to reflect of that too. If I save cash in gas, but have high car payments, I will subdue need to pay for a repair sometime, most liable before the car is paid off.
