Greg H. questioned:

I recently typed in “compressed air vehicle” on an internet search. I got a lot of “hits”. Looks like a French company is well on the way to making one. I’m unusual if here are any automotive engineers out here who have researched the subject, and what difficulties they have veteran with this energy source. I’m also unusual if anyone can tell me how much pressure can be held in fastidious containers. I know acetylene bottles are around 2000 psi; scuba tanks are around 4500 psi. Anything out here able to hold 10,000 psi ? What type of equipment would be de rigueur for this? Would a container like this carry on an automobile crash? Why don’t the auto makers use compressed air for “regenerative braking” as a substitution for of generators and batteries, in the hybrid cars?

How much feul efficiency is lost in oldish cars running on E10?

fuel efficiency

Cogent questioned:

E10 is 90% Gasoline and 10% Ethanol.
I read that:
“If habitual automobiles can go more miles on 9 tenths of a gallon of pure gasoline, than they can on 1 gallon of E10 made up of 10% ethanol and 90% gasoline, then forcing E10 ethanol on all customers is the essential scam. Taxpayers are forced to place 10% ethanol in their fuel only to realize a 10% to 20% net loss in fuel mileage!”
Is this proclamation right? Do ‘habitual’ car’s receive that much of a fall in fuel efficiency? I can’t find any references.
What is the probable fuel state loss in lets say a 7 year ancient car? (or a ‘X’ year ancient car where X is the average age of cars obsessed in the USA.)
