bespectacled questioned:
While driving in the city, is it a excellent thought to chat from “handbook” to “neutral” gear (automatic transmission) while coming up at a red set alight for long (1 small or more)? Does it help the engine or boost fuel efficiency? I judge turning off the detonation is not helpful for a wait of less than 3-4 summary…
I be grateful all the answerers for their sincere answers. They were all very informative and I got more than I questioned for. I am powerless to affect the best pledge, so I shall open the question for voting.

Mike T questioned:
Is this in view of the fact that with automatics, the car has to start from 1st gear, and budge to 2nd, then 3rd, then 4th, while with a manual, you can just jump from 1st to 3rd or 4th, causing stuck-up fuel efficiency?

Scythian1950 questioned:
Even agreed that automatic transmissions have spellbound up with manual transmissions in fuel efficiency, cost (being paid here), and acceleration, it seems to me that you’re sacrificing hegemony, letting it make decisions for you. I know that public would like an superfluous hand to run additional errands in the car, but I’m not one that wants that superfluous hand very much. Also, normal of automatics consistently degrade from strain new until it’s time for a foremost service, when manuals offer fixed normal until the clutch starts to give out.

1998 Honda Civic Fuel Efficiency?
billionaiire questioned:
- A year ago, at 55000 miles, this fantastic Automatic Transmission car used to give me 30 MPG in the city, and 34 on the highways on long drives.
- For last few months, at 64000 miles, the fuel efficiency has dropped significantly to 22 MPG. Cold ride out in New York is ONE factor, but shouldn’t chat much.
- The oil changes are fixed, tires are new. Last time I altered the flash plugs was at 54000 miles, and did servicing evenly until 60000 miles.
Any suggestions? flash plugs? I do see a “modest” heaviness (inexactness) while accelerating but no misfires. Don’t want to handbook the view in this management, but just what I reflect, it may maybe be in my head
Thankfulness!
