Fuel Efficiency, anyone? (too typical eh?)?

Did you know that you can save fuel and run your car on water
mandarakira asked:
1.List me a few devices that can save petrol usage, anything from attachments to modifications.
2.Does driving faster uses up less petrol?

People drive without allot of thought about how they may save some gas… when approaching a light and you know you have to stop why do people keep accelerating until they get to the light.. Let your car coast a bit and lay off of the gas your getting ready to stop anyway.
This device is called common since.
Driving faster doesn’t inherently use less fuel. Depends on the speed, the vehicle, and how you drive. Also, past a certain speed, it WILL inherently decrease your fuel economy. That speed also depends on the vehicle.
The only devices you can get that save fuel are:
Narrow tires
Tall final drive gear to stick in your differential (non-trivial installation if your car isn’t rear-wheel-drive)
If a more efficient option exists for your car (as is the case with certain VWs and Subarus), a replacement ECU, chip, or ECU reflash tuned for higher fuel efficiency.
Lighter replacement body panels/seats/wheels/etc
Everything else is snake oil.
Not mashing the gas from stop. Staying around 90 km/h (55 for you stars and stripes) on the highway. not idling …more or less driving like a old lady
they have perfected this method so much they can run on fumes
Now it is possible to convert your gasoline engine into a gas-electric hybrid. This will save huge amounts of gas, reduce your gas bills, and help save the environment.
There are no devices which can save ur petrol, better to use the bike which has low Engine CC , or say low pick up bikes,do not race ur bike, Driving slow at 30-40 kph is best and use ur brakes as much less u can , doesn’t mean u do not brake dat will give ur bike more efficiency.
CHECK IT OUT VERY INTERESTING.
1. Set your cruise control to 55 mph.
2. Drive off promptly to prevent wasting fuel.
3. Use your gears wisely.
4. Neutral is also an option.
5. Switch off your engine.
6. Fill up with a lower-octane gasoline.
7. Don’t top off.
8. Tighten up that gas cap.
9. Go easy on the air conditioning.
10. Avoid rush hour.
11. Use your garage for your car.
12. Go for the shade.
13. Tires effect fuel efficiency.
14. Keep your engine in tune.
15. Replace air filters.
16. Use the right oil.
17. Maintain a log.
18. Leave the car at home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The above posters make a lot of good points.
A few quibbles:
If your car requires high octane gas (read owners manual) use it, you may get better mileage. And avoid engine damage.
You cannot change your engine to a hybrid, short of scrapping your car and buying a new one.
Watch out for scams that promise you great improvements.
