fuel efficiency

Rich questioned:

i watched a TV show days gone by where a driving lecturer was instruction how to get the best fuel efficiency out of a car. he confirmed that if your foot isn’t on the gas, then the injectors will be switched off and no fuel will be used? but if a car is idling it is subdue burning fuel right? so does the engine know the difference between idling when the car isn’t tender and when the car is in gear but tender below momentum and not life obsessed by its engine?

Yes, all car engines are in the end air pumps and by measuring the air into and out of the engine the load can be determined.

So, yes, the bestow car engines electronics know when your coasting and can to be sure cut off the fuel injectors for a fleeting cycle of time.

It doesnt batter the injectors off it just cuts the amount of fuel delivered to the injectors.

Austerely, the car engine does not shut completely off at idle and of cource you are using something of fuel/air to keep up an idling/running engine. But the pad is place into a minimum-to-run mode at coast or idle. This observably will demand less fuel than if you are demanding bonus potential to push your vehicle with anything more than min. idle or coast mode. Some computers will really shut off the injectors when you are coasting down (but not at idle) as this does not demand any push from your engine and really the car is pushing the engine into rotation to some top!

    Hope this helps….

the car this self was probably referring to is any a hybrid or a car with MDS (manifold displacement logic). in those cases, the pad tells the injectors to stop effective when the accelerator is not life pressed.

for all additional cars, fuel is constantly life pumped into the engine. just at a slower rate.

an engine facility sort of like an air pump. fuel is sucked into the combustion chamber when the piston moves down making a vacuum. the fuel is diverse with air and is compressed then ignited by the flash plug which forces the piston back down for potential. here are 4 cycles to a car engine…
    1)intake of air and fuel
2)compression and detonation of the air/fuel mix
3)the “potential” stroke when the detonation of the mix forces the piston down to start torque
4)exhaust is debarred when the piston moves back up.

stepping on the gas advertise introduces more fuel and air into the logic causing it to go closer. letting off the advertise does the contrary. even with no pressure on the advertise, the engine subdue continues the administer, just at a slower rate. If your car has a tachomoter you can watch the RPM (revolutions per small) rise and fall when you hit the gas.

fuel is constantly life pushed into the motor by the fuel pump. on more bestow pad proscribed cars, here are sensors that tell the engine how to deal with it’s fuel consumption better. these are equipment like the Throttle Positioning Feeler or TPS which gives a more accurate depiction of how much the gas advertise is life pressed than just by a cable (the more traditional way of doing equipment).

all in all, as long as the detonation is twisted on, the car is consuming fuel. idling uses the smallest amount fuel. coasting is next best in view of the fact that if the car is in gear (even if the gas advertise is not life pressed), the transmission makes drag on the motor causing it to burn more fuel.

hope this is not too perplexing.

The engine without any fuel give will stall, the amount can be massively cut-rate but it subdue requires some to reside in out combustion, without combustion the engine breaking look is reasonably an effectual brake except the exhaust valves are held open and here is no piston / valve friend …
