Should I put a K&N Fuel Injector Performace Kit (FIPK) on my Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Did you know that you can save fuel and run your car on water
MadMonk asked:
Is it worth the price and time invested? I have the stock 4.0 liter I-6 engine and currently use a K&N filter element in the stock airbox. I’ve been happy with it, but I’m looking for more horsepower and efficiency.

It’s reputedly a good addition, although a little pricey. It is a CARB numbered item,so no hassle at inspection time. The real trick in installation is to work on sealing out any underhood air, so only colder outside air gets to it.
Some users have noted their belief that K&N filters let more dirt into the engine. It’s been an issue on most Jeep forum boards, but not much is proven about it.
It is not an investment, your Jeep will not be worth more at resale, in fact it will be considered modified and treated as hotrodded. Replace the original system if you sell, to protect your bluebook value. That goes for most modifications, the used car market devalues aftermarket parts heavily, even when done professionally and documented as better than factory.
The larger tube may be good but, the factory airbox gets all the air from behind the headlight which is usually much cooler than the hot under hood air allowed in by K&N’S feeble attempt at an air box. stick with the stock box & a K&N filter. I have seen Volant brand used on other Mopars, this type has a more engine heat eliminating design. Colder air makes more power. The 4.0l Jeep can gain alot from exhaust upgrades Bank’s has a great system, add a hi-flow cat & it will breath alot better. The faster you can get air in & out, the more power you’ll get.
