Hyundai is planning to roll down their Sonata Hybrid – the “Blue Drive” into the US probably in the 2010 Q4. When compared to other Hybrids of this class, it may be more cost effective.
Hyundai will have a golden opportunity to be on the top of the chart in 2010 with the “Blue Drive”, as the Toyota Prius and the Ford Fusion Hybrids are under the cage of Brake issues, even though it is being fixed by the companies.
Apart from the conventional NiMH batteries for the Hybrid cars these days, the Blue Drive makes use of the Lithium Polymer Batteries, which are already in use for the Hyundai Hybrid cars in South Korea. The Lithium Polymer batteries are of low cost in production than the Li-ion batteries used in other Hybrid cars.
Reduction in the production cost eventually reflects on the cars final price which will make the Hybrid Sonata more affordable for the customers in the competition and it will be another feather on the crown to one of the leading manufacturers of the last year.
