1. cars use less fuel, it is more likely that we would stop depending on foreign oil, which then means… THEY CAN’T RAISE GAS PRICES JUST TO JAB US IN THE EYE.
1- better emission standards mean less pollution. Ok, you don’t wanna believe that global warming garbage, that is your priviledge. Smog is smog, I don’t need scientists to explain this. I lived in Ca and live now in Texas. CA tightened emission standards years ago, Texas has not. I had not seen severe smog in years, until moving here.
Now, if you find something in common sense to turn that into the govt taking over all the busineses.. you have a great imagination. Or, you simply like slamming Obama, even when he does something worth while. I suspect #2.

I know this will go on deaf ears, but we have a mixed economy in the US, where we take environmental costs seriously, or at least we should, like more developed countries. We do this because the science tells us that pollutants are bad for people, cause sickness in children and the elderly. We do this because oil comes from insecure regions of the world and we no longer want to support terrorism through purchasing oil from Saudia Arabia. We do this because of concerns of the anthropogenic effect on global warming.
These are ‘proofs’. They come, as a unit, in real human life and suffering. Your so-called ‘proofs’ come from the reasoning of a child who could not construct a logical arguement if his life depended on it. And., if you think can, please message me. Unlike the pubs, I am not afraid to debate anyone on any subject.

If you want to reduce foreign dependence on oil – then you get your own oil. All this cap and trade nonsense is going to strangle our already suffering economy – the same policies that bankrupted CA are now (today with Arnold in Washington) being applied to the nation. While CA gets to vote on a 2 year tax increase to cover our cost of outsourcing our energy because the ‘green state’ cannot sustain itself.

Your number is wrong but, yes, he is raising CAFE standards. This will raise the number of fatality crashes in the US. Everytime the CAFE standards are raised, the fatal crashes increase. It will make us be in cars that just are not safe. IT will not stop imaginary global warming. IT will not make us less dependent. IT never has. All it does it put a greater burden on auto makers, take free choice away from consumers, and create cars that are less safe. Those who think it going to save them money are sadly mistaken. Your insurance rates will go up to cover the cost of the greater damage caused by toy cars!
