		<description>Define &quot;low price&quot;.  You can get a hybrid Toyota Prius or Honda Civic starting in the low 20s, but depending on what options you want the price can rise past $25k.  The Toyota Camry Hybrid starts at $26k and can easily go past $30k.  

Every other hybrid I can think of doesn&#039;t get &gt;35mpg (Ford Escape hybrid, Saturn Vue greenline, Honda Accord hybrid), not to mention they too are more expensive.

I think it&#039;s going to be at least 5 more years until you see truly low priced, economical hybrids.  Financially I think it makes more sense to just buy a regular Civic/Corolla/etc.  You can still average 30+ mpg in one, and in 5 years you can re-evaluate the hybrid choices.
