Did you know that you can save fuel and run your car on water

hybrid battery

Keyan questioned:

I have been wanting to buy an ahead of schedule 1998 Toyota Prius Hybrid…
Especially as I want to use it to see Australia so I want a fuel efficent car.
I have been told the earlier ones will give me grief in the possibility maybe with the batteries.
I also reflect maybe I may maybe add more batteries and maybe even try to convert it to run off mains grid electricity.
I know it is one of first models but it is all i can meet the expense of and I have seen them inane for 9500 AU now so if it treated me well it would be value it, but I am apprehensive it may end up life more of a lemon than additional cars.
Delight note I cant meet the expense of a better hybrid at the second….
(I am subdue in uni)
So my main question really is must I just go with a very fuel efficent car (have my eye on a duel fuel Subura brumby ute that I have read are near akin to Hybrids and are exceptional for Aussie conditions), a diesel sedan (may maybe make my own biodiesel) or a very ahead of schedule hybrid (hybrids are just plain awe-inspiring)>?
Also I have found it hard to find diesel sedans apart from new ones apart from a few mercedes and occasional volkswagon insect.
yes the brumby also has tribulations i like ute selection but they can cost up to 6 g anyway for a excellent dual fuel one and are hard to find.

I’d get a diesel. Here’s some older models that get mileage not much lower than hybrids, they won’t cost near as much to buy, diesels can be very reliable engines and yes they can be converted to run on vegetable oil.

Don’t feel you have to get a hybrid to be responsible- the battery issues were frequently hype and most automotive sources recommend they will last the life of the car… but subdue those batteries have to be bent and disposed of.

If you austerely buy a small car (or a scooter/small dirt bike) and keep it in excellent condition, you will be doing far more than most public.

The dual fuel brumby sounds appealing gas / LPG ? This must prove to be reasonably stingy on the juice. (Low on co2 emissions) Added bonus it is a ute and 4wd. Both excellent facial appearance for touring Australia.

I have only approximate figures on LPG but it looks about 20% less co2 /km than gas. (Figures calculated from a carbon trace site).

This may maybe also prove a excellent vehicle to do a hybrid /battery gripping conversion. Bounty of room below the tray for batteries. Maybe toss on a generator for the longer trips.

The Prius has a excellent reputation so I wouldn’t be too concerned about reliability. If the batteries do give you grief you can subdue get around with just the gas motor. It would be a excellent defense to get the lithium ion upgrade. (expense)

Some Prius plotted here for sale (and two wrecks parts maybe)

    Additional equipment to factor in

Prius four seats (springy five) Brumby two. Prius gets better state around town than on the highway. The gas motor runs continuously at highway speeds.

Condition in current RACQ (Queensland’s RACV). States fire creation will appropriate home bio diesel equipment. Very time consuming anyway. The older diesel sedans aren’t that economical in evaluation to the new ones. Gemini diesel (1980s) was around 7.2 L/100km

    Gas emits 2.32 kg co2/Litre
    Diesel emits 2.66 kg co2/Litre

    Summary.
The brumby is probably inane to give more options before long on and place more dollars in your pocket now. (Vital to a Uni Apprentice). Will nearly contest an ahead of schedule prius for co2 emissions.

The Prius will really shine in heavy Melbourne conveying. Reasonably excellent on highway. More Mechanically appealing to a renewable energy apprentice.

Any car a excellent extent. Your cash you affect

P.s. Found some info on LPG It emits 1.6kg co2/ litre. You will use more litres /km. The 20% enhancement

They have gas at 2.4 and diesel at 2.7 (accurate ample for me)

You can subdue go Prius as you can see privileged than you must be able to get you fingers on emergency batteries if looked-for.Here must be a plug in kit for it in a few being time.

The essential environmental apparatus is the bicycle effectively no co2 emissions. (my extent as often as possible)

The BMW 3 run is inane green

It is diesel and is held to get several more miles to the gallon than the Prius. Go to and go to the condition about the BMW 3 run inane green. It will be on the market in September.
